“I feel abstract art is for the subconscious mind. Eluding immediate logical understanding, abstract art is felt deep within the soul. A piece must first be felt before it can be understood. I feel my abstract art is like music: it comes from the same place only it is conveyed differently. Abstract art is only one branch of the tree that makes up our human experience. My paintings are like music in the sense that colors are notes, compositions are rhythms and brush strokes are dance. Music, art, poetry, and dance are all avenues of expression that give strength and meaning to life.”
James was featured in Who’s Who of American High School Students of 2001. James earned a bachelors degree in fine art from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland where he graduated with honors in 2005.
