John Wright: A Contemporary Artist and Photographer

John Wright is an artist and photographer whose interest in art and photography began in high school. Joining the US Navy in 1973, he acquired training and experience in advanced photography principles, photojournalism, and motion picture techniques. As a result of his outstanding portfolio, he was selected to attend Syracuse University’s prestigious Military Photojournalism Program, graduating in 1979. After the Navy, John transitioned into advertising and public relations photography for local, regional, and national accounts, including General Electric and Smithfield Hams.

After ten years away from the art field, John was drawn back to the desire to be visually creative. In April 2010, John opened his own photography business in Carlisle, providing custom photographic printing, art reproduction services, and photographic instruction. Over the last several years, John’s photography has been developing into the outstanding contemporary art form that you see today.

Formalist Approach

John Wright uses a Formalist approach in seeking images that speak their own stories and convey their past to the present. Forms, shapes, texture, colors, and patterns are the visual language of nature that individuals interpret for themselves, but the image still holds an underlying truth. His photography captures the essence of the subject matter, evoking a sense of timelessness and beauty that transcends the boundaries of traditional photography.

Contemporary Art Form

John Wright’s contemporary art form is characterized by a unique blend of realism and abstraction. His images range from vibrant and colorful landscapes to abstract compositions that explore the interplay of light and shadow. John’s use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and dimension in his images, drawing the viewer into the scene and engaging them on a visceral level. His ability to capture the beauty of the natural world in its purest form is a testament to his talent as an artist and photographer.
